In Type I, the left side of the circle broke down and in Type II, the circle broke at the bottom in September, 1893.

The existence of this type is debated. Some collectors, myself included, believe most if not all of the 235.01 marks are worn or clogged marks from double outer ring devices (type 253.01). Burns usually agreed and switched most 235.01 marks noted by Davey and Bash to type 253.01 (or combined them if the same town already listed a type 253.01). I switched others based on more recent information so only one remains.
