Two major perforation errors have been found among the American Bank Note portrait stamps. They are the horizontal
imperforate varieties listed as Scott No. 39a and Scott No. 52a.

One sheet of Scott No. 39 escaped horizontal perforations. The sheet is from the third printing of the 5¢
ultramarine stamp.

|
|
One sheet of Scott 52 was issued without horizontal
perforations.
