Postmarked at Honolulu on March 22, 1866, this cover was franked with a 5¢ "Interisland" Numeral stamp (Scott No. 22) to pay Hawaiian postage and
a 5¢ United States 1863 Jefferson stamp to pay the United States 2¢ ship fee plus 3¢ letter postage. As a prepaid letter to San Francisco, United States
postage was overpaid 2¢, as postage to a San Francisco addressee was only 1¢ for the drop letter rate, plus the 2¢ ship fee. (ex Seybold, Harris, Krug,
